Oregon Pioneer Federal Credit Union was chartered on June 8, 1951 as Nowest Federal Credit Union serving employees of Northwest Grocery Co. in the state of Oregon; employees of this credit union; members of their immediate families; and organizations of such persons.
On May 20, 1977, the credit union's name was changed to United Grocers NW Federal Credit Union, signifying a change in the sponsor company's name to United Grocers, Inc.
Most recently, United Grocers, Inc., was merged with a grocery distributor located in California, and became Unified Western
Grocers, Inc. This company has its own credit union in California.
The Board of Directors of Oregon Pioneer FCU saw a need to expand our field of membership and applied for a community charter. The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) granted this community charter on October 19, 2000, allowing us to serve all of Clackamas County.
On December 1, 2000 United Grocers NW FCU changed its name to Oregon Pioneer Federal Credit Union. We now serve the residents who live, work, attend school and worship in Clackamas County, and provide an alternative to traditional banking.
